Ordinary people. The courage to say no.

The photo was taken in Hamburg in 1936, during the celebrations for the launch of a ship. In the crowd, one person refuses to raise his arm to give the Nazi salute. The man was August Landmesser. He had already been in trouble with the authorities, having been sentenced to two years hard labor for marrying a Jewish woman.

We know little else about August Landmesser, except that he had two children. By pure chance, one of his children recognized her father in this photo when it was published in a German newspaper in 1991. How proud she must have been in that moment.

Can we get some reblogs on this story? It’s a 10 week old baby, no Amber Alert, no media attention. Nothing. This is in New York. And yes, she was missing since Jan 25th!!!!

Police are asking the public for help in locating a missing 10-week-old girl.

Madison Green was in the custody of Schenectady County Child Protective Services, but was last seen with her biological mother, Janel Davis. Police say they are concerned for the health, safety, and welfare of the girl.

A missing child bulletin issued on Wednesday by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice said that Madison may be in need of medical attention and could in Albany. The bulletin also said that the mother and child may use CDTA buses for transportation.

28-year-old Janel Davis is described as a black female, 5’5” and weighing 180 pounds, with brown eyes and blond hair. She may also go by “Ginger,” and is known to wear blue contact lenses.
